Ohio’s Medical Marijuana Control Program (MMCP)
The MMCP makes cannabis available to patients with qualifying medical conditions under the guidance of a certified physician. The program allows patients to purchase medical cannabis in the form of oils, tinctures, plant material, edibles, and patches. While the purchase of flower products for use with approved vaporizers is permitted, smoking or combustion of medical cannabis is not allowed for patients.

How to Get a Medical Marijuana Card in Ohio
To participate in the MMCP, patients must complete the following steps:

Receive a Diagnosis: Be diagnosed with one of the qualifying medical conditions listed above.

Consult a Certified Physician: Obtain a recommendation from an Ohio state-certified recommending physician.

Register with the State: Create an account and register with the Ohio Board of Pharmacy to receive your official medical marijuana card.
Once registered, patients can visit any licensed medical dispensary in Ohio to purchase approved medical cannabis products.
West Virginia’s Medical Cannabis Program
West Virginia’s Office of Medical Cannabis (OMC) oversees the state’s medical cannabis program, which provides safe access to qualifying patients. To participate, patients must receive a certification from a licensed physician confirming they have one or more qualifying medical conditions.
Registered patients can purchase medical cannabis from licensed dispensaries throughout the state in approved forms such as oils, tinctures, topicals, edibles, and dry leaf or plant material for vaporization.
The program emphasizes patient safety, product testing, and accessibility, ensuring that individuals across West Virginia can obtain medical cannabis in compliance with state regulations.

Once certified, the patient (or their caregiver) will receive an email from the Ohio Board of Pharmacy with instructions to complete their registration and pay the annual fee. After approval, patients can access their official Ohio Medical Marijuana Control Program (MMCP) card through the online portal.
Registered medical patients can purchase cannabis at any licensed medical dispensary in Ohio by presenting their valid MMCP patient card and a government-issued photo ID. Adult-use (recreational) customers aged 21 or older can purchase from licensed adult-use dispensaries, following state possession limits.
